Lodging & Transportation

Transportation is as much about the journey as it is about arriving safely at your destination. Most of the trips we book will have two main venues along with your Alajuela entry point. We recommend our associate transportation company, A Safe Passage, for your first and last leg of your trip. You will have a knowledgeable bilingual guide to answer questions, suggest stops to fit your personal agenda, and show you some unique places & great fun. You will ride in comfort with cold refreshments, ipod and cd music, and a dvd player. Ask your guide where you should stop off the trail so you can smell the coffee, take photos, get something to eat, or pick something up for the folks back home.

For the transportation leg when you just want to get there, we offer Grayline or Interbus transfers. Both offer safe, comfortable, economical, and professional transportation. You will be given door to door hotel transfer service that will be pre-arranged. These buses make a midpoint stop so you can refresh yourself.

Nature Air is a great alternative to ground transportation. Taking a private transfer one way to your venue and then flying back will give you two very different perspectives. If your location is remote or you are pressed for time, Nature Air may very well be your best bet. The twin prop planes hold 19 people and fly to many locations in Costa Rica and Bocos del Toro in Panama. Go to www.natureair.com to check flights and prices. If you are interested we will make all the arrangements.

Car rentals can be arranged, but we don't recommend it. Roads are not well marked and often have large potholes that only the locals are aware of. It is not wise to leave your luggage in the car unattended while you are exploring. After a few visits to Costa Rica, you will have a better feel for driving. At that time, car rental would be a more viable transportation option.

There are many lodging choices, and we will constantly be adding hotels that meet our standards of quality, service, and value. Although all but two of the hotels we offer have a website, we have put our own pictures up for a reason. Several times in the past, we have stayed in hotels based only on their website, only to be disappointed upon arrival. On further inspection, we would find the one or two areas used for the photo shoot, but felt it did not accurately reflect the hotel. We have spent time at all of the hotels we offer. We are cognizant of varying trip budgets for our clients and do our best to accommodate them. All the prices shown do not include the 16.8 % hotel tax.
